Types of Mental Stress
Social Stress: Lack of opportunity for exposure to people, places, and situations in a teaching manner. THis means necessary social introduction with the emphasis on "no meddling" and "mind your own business" for the dog, not group hugs. This type of social introduction exposure develops a heightened sense of discretion within the animal in dealing with both known and unknowns. The animals that have not learned his/her place has no respect for authority, no regard for the consequences of his/her actions and may show no mercy to subordinates. The un-socialized animal as with the un-socialized human has teh run of the house, may gratify wants immediately without earning them and may threaten or attack anyone they choose to achieve their goal. |
Temperatmental Stress: Occurs when the animal's temperament does not match the enivronment i.e. a shy dog raised in a loud, confusing household, a dominae dog raised in a passive hoursheold, fast learners raised in slow moving households as well as slow learners raised in a fast confusing household. |
