INIWIC Instructor Cadre Delivers M.A.C.H. Based CRSC training to Soldiers at Fort Lewis

Posted December 12, 2008

Earlier this year, the INIWIC Instructor Cadre provided Soldiers at Ft. Lewis, WA with Close Range Subject Control (CRSC) training. The curriculum covered Non-Lethal Weapons tactics, including Controlled F.O.R.C.E. Mechanical Advantage Control Holds™ (M.A.C.H.) based subject control, Baton, OC, and Taser. To maintain their perishable skills and to stay at the forefront of CRSC tactics, several INIWIC Instructors will be joining the U.S.N.S.T.A. Instructor Cadre at the 9th Annual U.S.N.S.T.A. National Training Conference on December 15-19 in Las Vegas, NV. The U.S.N.S.T.A. (United States National Standards of Training Association) works to establish a minimum standard of Anti-Terrorism / Force Protection training for the modern forces protecting our homeland and our communities. Just as INIWIC uses Controlled F.O.R.C.E. to provide a foundation to its CRSC curriculum, the U.S.N.S.T.A. utilizes Controlled F.O.R.C.E. as its cornerstone system from which all other approved programs build.

INIWIC (Interservice Nonlethal Individual Weapons Instructor Course) represents the Department of Defense standard of instructor training in Non-Lethal Weapons tactics for all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces. Since 2004, the INIWIC Instructor Cadre has looked to the Controlled F.O.R.C.E. team to develop a CRSC curriculum that provides a strong foundation in hand-to-hand techniques. While the primary job of INIWIC is to provide training in Non-Lethal Weapons such as Baton and OC, the instructor cadre understands the importance of establishing a framework of hand-to-hand skills from which to integrate other force response options.

By incorporating the Controlled F.O.R.C.E. Mechanical Advantage Control Holds™ into its curriculum, the INIWIC program fosters the mindset of utilizing movement, body positioning, and leverage to maintain control of a non-compliant operating environment and to stay alive in close quarters battle. The INIWIC Instructor Cadre puts into practice the concept that "Movement is Life" and that service members must be trained to expect failure of any given Non-Lethal tactic. The INIWIC program prepares service members to keep moving within the non-compliant operating environment, so that when failure occurs they are already set up to transition to another tactic and maintain control of the situation.
