Cook County begins development of response to resistance training standard for Juvenile Detention Center

18 November 2011 -- Chicago, IL

Controlled F.O.R.C.E. began work this week assisting Cook County Juvenile Temporary Detention Center (JTDC) in the development of a Response to Resistance Training Standard for Juvenile Detention Staff.

Instructors Tony Grano and Toby Flaget provided training based on Controlled F.O.R.C.E. Levels 1 & 2 as the first step in implementing a year-long training plan that will address issues as needed until there is an established standard of training.

The training, which included verbal de-escalation and physical intervention techniques, initiated instructor development for the first group of 20 Special Response Team members. Controlled F.O.R.C.E. will continue to provide instructor development to the Special Response Team, and assist the instructors in the delivery of the response to resistance training to Juvenile Detention Staff.

With the first installment of training complete, Cook County JTDC is well on its way to achieving its goal of increasing the safety of its staff members and the juveniles in their care.
