Special Series: U.S. Air Force 27th Special Operations Security Forces Squadron
PART I: Security Forces MOUT Training

Controlled F.O.R.C.E. Training Systems recently conducted a Military Operations in Urban Terrain (MOUT) training package for members of the U.S. Air Force 27th Special Operations Security Forces Squadron (27 SOSFS). The training package, which Airmen could only describe as "phenawesome" (phenomenally awesome), kicked off with a "virtual" training session and concluded with a full-blown MOUT scenario in a mock deployable environment.

Controlled F.O.R.C.E. utilized MISTIC Inc. in New Mexico to facilitate a realistic urban operating environment. The Controlled F.O.R.C.E. Corporate Instructor Team consisted of Executive Directors Tony Grano and Don Roberts, Jim Roncal, Lee Frank, and Vik Long. Team Members Lorenzo Catanag and Kayla Lilly provided instructional support during the virtual training delivery utilizing modern video game technology.

The instructor team delivered tactical training covering Close Range Subject Control (CRSC), Small Arms Live Fire Drills, Low-Light / No-Light and Night Vision Goggles (NVG) operations training, All Terrain Vehicles (ATV) team movements and NVG driving, and MOUT training. All aspects of training were tied into a MOUT scenario with enemy role players (complete with man-jammies), Simunitions (for ranged force-on-force combat), and casualties.
